A Message from our Founder,

Dame Ann GloagFounder

On this 20th anniversary of Jonathan Gloag Academy (JGA), I have enormous pride in witnessing what the school has become and what continues to be achieved.

Opening the doors of JGA in 2002 was very special for my family and me. I had a vision to build a legacy of educational excellence that would provide a solid foundation for the children of Kenya Children’s Home (KCH), as well as other children whose parents believed in our ethos.

Those first 138 pupils – and the parents who trusted us with their children’s education – were the roots of what we see today. 20 years later I have no doubt we have surpassed our own expectations.

We have proved that you can combine a strong charitable ethos with educational success.

Our alumni are confident and successful in secondary schools, universities and work and the values they learned at JGA are with them for life. My greatest satisfaction has been the social integration of children from a wide range of backgrounds. I strongly believe this benefits all the children at JGA and helps them understand what people have in common is greater than their differences.

Today, JGA educates children from Kibera, alongside the children of KCH and the wider Nairobi area. That is what makes JGA special. JGA strives to combine educational excellence, social integration and strong values to produce confident, successful and honest children who are the future of Kenya. That remains our goal and we look forward to achieving even more in the next 20 years.
Dame Ann Gloag.
